Hunter Valley Arabians Inc was started by a small band of Arabian enthusiasts in 1973.
We are a non profit organisation affiliated with the Arabian Horse Society of Australia.
We endeavour to hold an "A" Class Arabian show annually as well as two Hack Shows.
Our aim is to encourage Arabian Horse owners to show off their beautiful Arabians at one of the last remaining small "A" Class shows left in New South Wales.
There have been several shows held over the years but we have also presented a Prestige Auction of National quality Arabians held at historic Tocal Homestead in 1996.
The auction showcased 20 horses as well as 40 pieces of Equine Art and Bronze Sculptures.
Onlookers came from afar as New Zealand with the highest sold lot being a purebred Arabian filly for $7500 and one Art exhibit attracted $3250.
A future auction is being discussed.
Our "A"class show has moved from Singleton Showground to the spacious Salt Ash Sports Arena on Richardson Road. Each ring is always officiated by panel judges and usually attracts competitors from far and wide. There are plenty of prizes on offer with Garlands for every Supreme Exhibit. We hope that with the improvements to the Salt Ash Sports Arena which will include a new Clubhouse and stables, it will again be one of the biggest small shows in the state.
Initially we decided to run two Hack shows each year to support the "A" Class show but they have grown into hugely attended events and have been dubbed "Salt Ash Royal".
Endeavouring to encourage local junior competitors to taste "Show Life" through our Unofficial Ring, it is now a force to be reckoned with, with large entries of hopeful riders vying for ribbons to sixth place and prizes that are fully sponsored by Divine Equine.
The hack rings include led and ridden breed classes with Supreme Led and Ridden Breed Horses being selected from over 40 horses each. Riding classes, Show Hunters and Open Hacks are also catered for attracting exhibits from all over New South Wales including Royal Show winners. There are also encouragement awards offered throughout the day to competitors who may have not won any ribbons but still try their luck in every event.
We hope that by offering professional, efficiently conducted events, competitors will support us and other local organisations and have a great day out with their horses.
